Boston Sports Rumors

Eddie House is telling the media that he will be traded to the Knicks for Nate Robinson. The House-for-Robinson swap looks like it will be the much anticipated roster tweak from Danny Ainge. It is not the major move involving Ray Allen that has been rumored for weeks but, as I blogged earlier today, the Celtics are capable of winning a championship as long as they stay healthy and start to receive more consistent play from some key names, Rasheed Wallace in particular. The Celtics rumors are not the only ones making their way around regarding Boston teams. For instance, the Red Sox are one of a few teams reportedly interested in the services of Russell Branyan. Branyan is coming off of his best season. He hit 31 homeruns and drove in 76 runs while posting a .867 OPS. He would provide a great bat off the bench, being capable of playing firstbase, left field, and designated hitter. The Rays are probably a better fit for Branyan's services but I would like to see the Red Sox acquire his bat. In Foxboro, there are multiple news items circulating about the Patriots. Add Julius Peppers? A Laurence Maroney-for-Antonio Cromartie trade? The return of Deion Branch? Count me in as a fan of all three proposed moves. Peppers would give the Patriots a legitimate pass rusher. Maroney has never lived up to his first-round expectations and Cromartie would give the Pats a playmaker at cornerback. Deion Branch would either replace Wes Welker if he does not play in 2010 or give Tom Brady the perfect option as a third receiver.
