R.I.P. Mosi Tatupu
Mosi Tatupu, a Patriots star for 13 seasons from 1978 - 1990, passed away yesterday at age 54.
Tutupu was a member of USC's 1974 national championship team and was named to the 1986 Pro Bowl, the same year he helped the Patriots reach their first Super Bowl in franchise history. His popularity with the Patriots was nearly unmatched and he had his own personal cheering section in the old Foxboro Stadium known as "Mosi's Mooses."
After his playing career ended, Tutupu became a coach. He was the head coach of King Philip High School, where he coached his son Lofa. Lofa went on to star at the University of Maine for one year before transferring to his dad's alma mater, which he helped lead to national championships in 2003 and 2004. Lofa currently is a Pro Bowl linebacker for the Seattle Seahawks.
After King Philip, Mosi began coaching at Curry College. Curry's head coach, Skip Bandini, said that, "He was all our players' favorite coach and he was all our coaches' favorite coach."
