Celtics Close to Landing Dunk Champion
The Boston Herald is reporting that the Celtics are on the verge of acquiring Nate Robinson from the Knicks, possibly in exchange for Eddie House.
Robinson would give the Celtics a third guard who is capable of scoring and defending. Losing House's shooting would be a loss to Boston's offense but Robinson is a better all-around player and is more athletic.
Adding Robinson's scoring and athleticism is not the major move that some people expected Danny Ainge to make but it does shake up the roster and adds a different dimension to the team.
This is do-or-die time for the Celtics. They started the second half of their season with a 95-92 victory over the Kings. The Celtics received important contributions from Rasheed Wallace, who will play an integral role in their 2010 championship hopes. Wallace poured in 17 points and grabbed five rebounds and "limited" himself to four attempts from three-point land. Boston needs him to become more consistent scoring and rebounding if they hope to challenge the Lakers, Nuggets, Cavaliers, Magic, and Hawks for the Larry O'Brien trophy.
If Ainge does pull the trigger on this deal, the Celtics depth chart would look like this:
1: Rajon Rondo, Nate Robinson
2: Ray Allen, Tony Allen
3: Paul Pierce, Marquis Daniels
4: Kevin Garnett, Glen Davis
5: Kendrick Perkins, Rasheed Wallace
That is a team that, if healthy, can win in June.
