The investigation of the Washington Football Team for a workplace misconduct allegation has resulted resignation of Raiders head coach Jon Gruden this week. I believe Gruden will be the tip of an iceberg that will result in more bad publicity for the NFL and cost more high profile NFL people to lose their jobs.
Gruden's emails, written while he was an employee of ESPN, are not to be defended. His language was racist, misogynistic, and offensive. His decision to resign was the right move.
But are we naive enough to believe that in the 650,000+ emails that were collected as a part of the investigation that there are no other examples of inappropriate and offensive conversations?
The content of these emails are going to get to the public, that is a certainty. I am not an advocate of a witch hunt, but I would be shocked if the contents of these emails did not expose other examples similar to that of Gruden or other conversations that would result in resignations or firings.
The clouds are gathering over the NFL, and the Gruden news is likely the beginning of the storm.
