Red Sox Swept by the Orioles

After losing 9-6 in a 17-inning marathon, the Red Sox were swept by the Orioles at Fenway Park for the first time since 1994 and now they find themselves 7.5 games out of first place.

Things were so bad yesterday that our $154-million first baseman Adrian Gonzalez went 0-for-8 with two strikeouts.

Things were so bad yesterday that the winning pitcher was Baltimore's DH, Chris Davis, who tossed two scoreless innings to finish off a day that saw him go 0-for-8 at the plate with five strikeouts.  The loss went to Red Sox outfielder Darnell McDonald.

Things were so bad yesterday that the stadium's public address system broke before Sweet Caroline could be played for Pink Hat Nation.

(Okay, that didn't happen and if it did, we would have considered yesterday a victory of sorts.)

The Red Sox are now 4-10 at Fenway Park and have dropped their last five at home.  Maybe it's a blessing that they get to play eleven of their next seventeen games on the road.
