Three Strikes:
1. At this point, there's not much hope for the Red Sox. Maybe Rube Baker will stop by their locker room before Game 2 of today's doubleheader in the Bronx to inspire the Red Sox to finish the season strong, make the playoffs, and wreak some havoc in October.
2. If that was the end, we'll all miss you Tim Wakefield.
3. PLAYOFF RACE: The Red Sox now lead the Rays by just a .5 game. A win tonight would give the Red Sox a 1 game lead for the Wild Card with three games left in the season. Tampa Bay hosts the Yankees while the Red Sox will be in Baltimore for the final series. Of course, they could be tied with the Rays entering the final three games.
The Angels (2 games behind the Red Sox) are still in the mix as well. They are currently beating the A's (they could climb to within 1 game if they win and the Red Sox lose tonight) and close their season by hosting the Rangers for three games.
