Bruins Destroy Canucks In Game 3

Things have been crazy in my usually boring life lately so please excuse the lack of posts. I know I didn't get it posted before the Stanley Cup Finals started but I was going to go with the Canucks in 6.

Well, things have changed.

The Bruins lost the first two games in heartbreaking fashion in Vancouver but as they came back to Boston for Game 3, I was very confident they would make the series competitive. Tim Thomas was playing solid in goal and the offense showed some signs of life in Game 2. Getting back on the Garden ice was all this team needed to get a win and get back in this thing.

Game 3 involved a vicious hit on Bruins winger Nathan Horton by Aaron Rome. Horton was carted off the ice and is done for the series with a serious concussion. Rome was ejected from the game and the NHL suspended him today for the rest of the series.

The Horton-Rome play seemed lit a spark under the Bruins. They failed to capitalize on the 5-minute power play they earned from Rome's ejection but they erupted for 4 goals in the second period and another 4 goals in the third to register an impressive 8-1 win.

Tomorrow night's Game 4 is now the biggest game of the season for both teams. Boston desperately needs a win to tie the series and gain the momentum. Vancouver needs a win to take a commanding 3-1 series lead and give themselves a chance to win the franchise's first Stanley Cup at home in Game 5.

Nearly 30 years of being a Bruins fan would tell me that they have no shot in Game 4 and will be watching the Canucks skate with the Cup but something has changed in this team. They will miss Horton's production greatly (they need rookie Tyler Seguin to play at a high level) but they rallied around their fallen mate and pounded the Canucks into submission last night.

I believe that momentum will carry over through the rest of the series and that the B's will capture their first Cup since 1972.
