I am just getting home from another successful trip to the Phantom Gourmet's annual Barbeque Beach Party, held for the second straight year on the grounds of Suffolk Downs.
For those who have never been before, it is a festival of glutony that encourages those who attend to stuff their faces with ribs, pork, beef brisket, potato salad, baked beans, and a multitude of excellent desserts.
Dave and Mike Andelman, the two brothers who operate Phantom Gourmet, bring in the best barbeque chefs from all over the United States and even reach over to Australia in order to provide the customers with an unreal set of BBQ options.
This was my third year attending the event. I could bore you with how much food that I consumed but the big story was that my two partners this year - my brother Ben and my uncle Joe - got tummy aches and barely tasted any of the delicious food. The sight of two grown men not being able to fully enjoy a parking lot full of barbeque was not pretty. Even Seinfeld ordering the salad in the steak house was not as embarrassing as the performance put on by Ben and Joe.
