Celtics Draft Watch: Saddiq Bey

The NBA Draft is coming up on November 18.  Armed with three first round picks (#14, #26, and #30), the Celtics could go in a variety of directions.  TheBostonInsider will be taking a look at several players that could be a fit in Boston.

Saddiq Bey, Sophomore, Forward, Villanova (6-8, 210 pounds)

Saddiq Bey fits the mold of the "modern" NBA forward.  He has good height and athleticism, can shoot the ball (more on that below), can attack the basket off of the dribble, and is a solid defender.

The Celtics two cornerstone players are Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown and both play Bey's position.  So, why should the Celtics consider the Villanova sophomore?

Shooting.

Bey is a knockdown three-point shooter. He shot 45% from behind the arc last year and that is a piece that the Celtics are sorely missing.

Imagine for a moment Tatum or Brown attacking the basket and facing a wall of defenders in the paint so they kick the ball out to a waiting Bey, who knocks down an open three.

Brad Stevens loves the idea of "position less" basketball and a versatile player such as Bey would spread the floor on one end while being able to defend multiple positions on the other end.

Bey could potentially be an impact player for the Celtics offense as a rookie.  If he is there at #14, Danny Ainge will have a hard time to not call his name.
