Celtics Draft Watch: Leandro Bolmaro

The NBA Draft is coming up on November 18.  Armed with three first round picks (#14, #26, and #30), the Celtics could go in a variety of directions.  TheBostonInsider will be taking a look at several players that could be a fit in Boston.

Leandro Bolmaro, Guard/Forward, FC Barcelona Lassa/Spanish Liga ACB (6-8, 195 pounds)

With three first round picks and not a lot of roster space, Danny Ainge is expected to try and package his picks to move up in the draft and/or add a veteran player or use at least one of those picks on a "draft and stash" prospect.

Bolmaro, an Argentinian who has played well on their U-17 and U-19 national teams, has demonstrated a well rounded offensive game playing for Spanish powerhouse FC Barcelona (he has split time between their reserve team and main team).  If Ainge is to go the "draft and stash" route, Bolmaro is an ideal candidate.  He is under contract with FC Barcelona through 2023, but the Celtics could work around that if they are ready for him to join the NBA in the next two years.

Bolmaro's highlights show that he has a lot of the strengths of Gordon Hayward.  He can handle the ball and create for himself or a teammate, is a good shooter, finishes in transition, and has promise on defense.  While he seems to be at least two years away from being an NBA contributor keep in mind that Ainge has to start thinking ahead to the middle of the 2020's, when Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown will be hitting their primes and will need talent around them to make multiple championship runs.
