Just A Thought

Call Danny Ainge, I've figured it all out.

Boston saves a little over $10-million and also trades away two players, Bradley and Smart, that they won't be able to afford a year from now.  They also lose Crowder but with Gordon Hayward, Jaylen Brown, and Jayson Tatum on the roster the need for Crowder is minimal.

The Celtics add Clint Capela to be their starting center as well as Kyle O'Quinn to give them veteran depth off the bench in the front court.  Boston also picks up Mindaugas Kuzminskas to make the money work.

Houston gets Carmelo Anthony to pair with Chris Paul and James Harden.  They'd be lacking in size but veteran big men would likely go to Houston on the cheap to contend for a title.  Smart and Crowder give them tough role players and could also be possibly used to flip for a big man later during the season.

The Knicks get Ryan Anderson to pair with Kristaps Porzingis as well as Avery Bradley and Eric Gordon for their back court.  In the East, that could be enough to get into the playoffs.  The Knicks would also grab a future first round pick from the Celtics.

Boston would then be able to go with Isaiah Thomas, Jaylen Brown, Gordon Hayward, Al Horford, and Capela as their starting five with a bench of Terry Rozier, Jayson Tatum, O'Quinn, Ante Zizic, and Daniel Theis with the ability to bolster their back court through the Mid-Level and Bi-Annual exceptions.
