Note:

The Red Sox trade of Mike Napoli to the Rangers for a player to be named later or cash was not a surprise as the first baseman has struggled at the plate all year.

It is noteworthy however because it is another move that distances these last place Red Sox from the 2013 World Series championship team.

Napoli was a big contributor to that championship team, providing right handed power behind David Ortiz and playing a very good first base.

He gets a chance in Texas to rebound from a poor season and to help the Rangers sneak into the A.L. playoffs.
