Tom Brady Keeps on Winning
The Patriots opened their 2012 season with a 34-13 romp against the over matched Tennessee Titans, which was their ninth straight opening day victory, and they were led by several excellent performances on both sides of the ball including Tom Brady.
It is no surprise when Brady puts together a good day on the field that leads to a win, by now it's almost expected that will be the case when the Patriots take the field. However, as he gets older, each good performance and each win put him further up the list in the record books.
The win gives Brady 125 career regular season victories, good for fifth all-time. The 125-35 career regular season record is good for a ridiculous .781 winning percentage. When you add in his 16-6 career playoff record, Brady's overall record is 141-41 (.775 winning percentage).
Seriously, it really does seem like all he does is win when he take the field.
Yesterday's two touchdown passes allowed Brady to pass John Elway for fifth on the all-time list and his 236 passing yards made him just the fourteenth player to pass 40,000 career passing yards. Sometime early in this week's game Brady will pass Johnny Unitas for thirteenth place on that list.
Of course, regular season wins and individual statistics are not what make Brady tick. He cares about nothing more than Super Bowl championships. If his offense lives up to its usual lofty expectations and the young, revamped defense can play like it did yesterdat throughout the season, there is a good chance Brady will win his fourth Lombardi Trophy in February.
