Red Sox v. White Sox

Here are the expected pitching matchups for the four-game series at Fenway between Will Middlebrooks' Red Sox and Kevin Youkilis' White Sox.

Monday: Aaron Cook (2-2, 4.37) v. Dylan Axelrod (1-2, 6.16)
Tuesday: Jon Lester (5-6, 4.49) v. Philip Humber (3-4, 6.01)
Wednesday: Felix Doubront (9-4, 4.41) v. TBA
Thursday: Franklin Morales (2-2, 3.16) v. TBA

The Red Sox, who started the second half off by taking 2-of-3 in Tampa Bay, will see Carl Crawford return to action tonight.  The left fielder has been out all year, starting with a wrist injury and then an elbow injury that Crawford has admitted will probably need Tommy John ligament replacement surgery sometime soon.  Hopefully Crawford will stay healthy, help the Red Sox make a run at one of the two A.L. Wild Card spots (they are just 1.5-games out of that second spot), and begin to put last year's miserable season behind him.

With Crawford back, here is what Bobby Valentine's lineup might look like tonight:

1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
2. Mike Aviles, SS
3. David Ortiz, DH
4. Cody Ross, RF
5. Adrian Gonzalez, 1B
6. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C
7. Carl Crawford, LF
8. Will Middlebrooks, 3B
9. Pedro Ciriaco, 2B
