Red Sox v. Tigers (April 5, 2012)
Boston Red Sox (0-0) at Detroit Tigers (0-0)
SP - Jon Lester (0-0, 0.00) v. Justin Verlander (0-0, 0.00)
1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
3. Adrian Gonzalez, 1B
4. David Ortiz, DH
5. Kevin Youkilis, 3B
6. Ryan Sweeney, RF
7. Cody Ross, LF
8. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C
9. Mike Aviles, SS
Three Strikes:
1. The best way for Jon Lester to put a disappointing end to the 2011 season behind him would be a strong start today against a very potent Tigers lineup. I think Lester is determined to put last year behind him and establish himself as a leader of the Red Sox going forward.
2. I'm not surprised that ESPN picked up today's game for a national broadcast. Not only is it Opening Day with two of the contenders in the American League but the Lester-Verlander pitching matchup is as good as it gets.
3. I think new addition Cody Ross will be the hero today. The Fenway Faithful are going to really like Ross.
