Conference Championship Football Picks

Picks are against the spread and home team is in capitals.

AFC Championship Game

PATRIOTS (-7) over Baltimore
The Ravens have an excellent defense and can run the ball, two ingredients needed to slow down Tom Brady and the Patriots offense.  They are also a one-dimensional football team that struggles on the road.

Brady and the offense need to get off to a quick start and I think that they will.  That will shift Baltimore's game plan from pounding the ball with Ray Rice to having to throw a lot and that is not their game.  Joe Flacco isn't terrible but I like the Pats chances to win if he has to pass more than 25 times.

31-13, Patriots.

NFC Championship Game

NY Giants (+2.5) over SAN FRANCISCO
The 49ers have been on an amazing ride all season under Jim Harbaugh but  think it ends this week.  Both teams have good defenses that get after the quarterback but I like the G-Men's offensive balance, especially the play of Eli Manning, to make the difference tomorrow.

20-16, Giants.

Wild Card: 2 - 2
Divisional: 4 - 0
Playoffs: 6 - 2
Regular Season: 119 - 126 - 5
