Football Picks

Wow!  Last week was a horror show for TheBostonInsider's picks and I wish I could blame Halloween but that would not be fair to the stream of youngsters that wore poor imitations of Captain America and Dorothy Gale to my doorstep looking for free candy.

Like Herman Cain, I take responsibility for a week that saw me go 0-5 with the college picks and 4-9 with the pro's and I pledge to improve this week and help you make some money.

All picks against the spread (sticking with the Bible) and home team in capitals.

NCAA

ALABAMA (-4.5) over Louisiana State
"Game of the Century" will be a defensive battle won by the home team on a late defensive touchdown.

OKLAHOMA (-13.5) over Texas A&M
The Sooners still have a shot at the BCS Championship Game if they win out in impressive fashion.

Oregon (-16.5) over WASHINGTON
Oregon still controls its destiny in the Pac 12.

Stanford (-21) over OREGON STATE
Andrew Luck makes a point to Phil Simms that he can indeed make "all the throws."

South Carolina (+8.5) over ARKANSAS
Gamecocks defense will keep them in this one.

Last Week: 0 - 5
Season: 27 - 18

NFL

Atlanta (-7) over INDIANAPOLIS
Another step toward 0-16 for the Colts.

NEW ORLEANS (-8) over Tampa Bay
Saints dropped one in Tampa earlier in the season and will bounce back from an embarrassing loss last week to the Rams.

HOUSTON (-10.5) over Cleveland
The Texans take control of the AFC South.  By the way, not a team the Patriots want to see in the playoffs.

BUFFALO (-2) over NY Jets
We're still waiting for the Jets to perform on the road.

KANSAS CITY (-4) over Miami
What a turnaround in KC - they went from "Suck for Luck" to co-leaders of the AFC West in a month.

San Francisco (-3.5) over WASHINGTON
Jim Harbaugh's squad keeps it going.

DALLAS (-11.5) over Seattle
The Cowboys still can take the NFC East.

OAKLAND (-7) over Denver
Carson Palmer should be better with two full weeks of learning the Raiders offense.

Cincinnati (+3) over TENNESSEE
Gingers everywhere are pulling for Andy Dalton and the Bengals.

St. Louis (+2.5) over ARIZONA
Rams make it two in a row.

NY Giants (+9) over PATRIOTS
Pats will continue their success at Gillette but it will be closer than nine points.

Green Bay (-5.5) over SAN DIEGO
The Packers will not go 16-0 but they will roll over the Chargers.

Baltimore (+3) over PITTSBURGH
Ravens take control of the AFC North.

PHILADELPHIA (-7.5) over Chicago
The Eagles are making September a distant memory.

Last Week: 4 - 9
Season: 57 - 55 - 4
