I am off to a great start in college football but my first week of NFL picks were less than stellar. To try and shake it up I'm switching my lines this week from BoDog to the trusted ol' Bible.
I hear your counter argument that I'm risking my success with the college picks. You shout at me through the computer, "Just stay with the hot hand and don't get greedy," and I hear you but nothing is derailing this train.
As always, all picks against the spread and home team is in capitals.
NCAA
CLEMSON (-3) over Auburn
The streak has to end, right?
FLORIDA (-9.5) over Tennessee
A lot of points for rivalry game but the Gators can handle it.
Michigan State (+5) over NOTRE DAME
This is like stealing. The Irish starting the season 0-3.
FLORIDA STATE (+3) over Oklahoma
The Seminoles show America they're one of the big boys again.
Texas (-3.5) over UCLA
Beating up on UCLA is reason for the Longhorns to jump to the Pac-12.
Last Week: 4 - 1
Season: 8 - 2
NFL
Chicago (-7) over NEW ORLEANS
Bears run game should keep them close in a Saints win.
DETROIT (-8) over Kansas City
What a time to live in Detroit, other than the economy.
NY JETS (-9.5) over Jacksonville
I don't see the Jaguars putting up too many points against Revis Island and the Jets defense.
BUFFALO (-3) over Oakland
Tough one to call after both teams started impressively in Week 1 so I'll use the "West Coast team playing on the East Coast at 1pm" to make the decision.
Arizona (+3.5) over WASHINGTON
Yes, Arizona falls into the same category as Oakland this week but the Cards offense led by Larry Fitzgerald and Kevin Kolb will put up enough points to cover.
Baltimore (-6) over TENNESSEE
Patriots-Ravens AFC Championship Game.
PITTSBURGH (-14.5) over Seattle
I love the idea of a Jets/Steelers tease.
Green Bay (-10) over CAROLINA
I love a Packers/Jets/Steelers 3-way tease even more.
Tampa Bay (+3) over MINNESOTA
Would someone please tell Donovan McNabb it's over?
Cleveland (-2.5) over INDIANAPOLIS
Welcome to the weekly "Rub salt in the wounds of the Colts" segment of the picks.
Dallas (-3) over SAN FRANCISCO
Not even Tony Romo can find a way to lose this one, right?
Houston (-3) over MIAMI
Can't you see Andrew Luck in a Dolphins uniform?
San Diego (+7) over PATRIOTS
This looks like a 28-24 Patriots victory with Devin McCourty picking off Philip Rivers with under two minutes to seal the deal.
Cincinnati (+4) over DENVER
If the Bengals and Broncos play a football game on Sunday and no one watches it do the fantasy points still count?
ATLANTA (+3) over Philadelphia
Michael Vick has never been great when the pressure is on and although it's just Week 2, his return to Atlanta counts as having the pressure on to me.
NY GIANTS (-6) over St. Louis
Just too many injuries in St. Louis.
Last Week: 7 - 8 - 1
Season: 7 - 8 - 1
