Red Sox vs. Mariners (August 12, 2011)

Red Sox (72-44) @ Seattle Mariners (50-66)

SP - John Lackey (10-8, 6.14) vs. Blake Beavan (3-2, 2.83)

1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
3. Adrian Gonzalez, 1B
4. Kevin Youkilis, 3B
5. David Ortiz, DH
6. Carl Crawford, LF
7. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C
8. Josh Reddick, RF
9. Marco Scutaro, SS

Three Strikes:

1. The Lackey Revival Tour will continue tonight.  Over his last six starts the big righty is 5-0 with a 3.58 ERA.  He has historically had success in Seattle - including a near no-hitter last year - and the Red Sox would love nothing more than to see him continue his success with the playoffs on the horizon.

2. David Ortiz is waking up from his slump that was caused in part to sitting during Interleague play, the All-Star Break, and serving a three-game suspension after the All-Star Game.

Big Papi has 12 hits in his last 29 at-bats with 3 home runs and 9 RBI.

The Red Sox lineup is scary when Ortiz kills the ball and the American League playoff teams have to fear Boston when Papi is being Papi.

3. I've been patient all season and have kept the faith so I fully expect Carl Crawford to build on his recent success (26 hits in his last 87 at-bats) and break out for the rest of the season.  We've all been waiting for the Crawford that killed the Red Sox for all those years in Tampa Bay emerge in Boston and this is the weekend that he will start being that player again.
