Red Sox vs. Indians (May 25, 2011)

Red Sox (26-22) @ Cleveland Indians (30-16)

SP - Jon Lester (6-1, 3.68) vs. Mitch Talbot (1-0, 1.46)

1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
2. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
3. Adrian Gonzalez, 1B
4. Kevin Youkilis, 3B
5. David Ortiz, DH
6. Jed Lowrie, SS
7. Carl Crawford, LF
8. Mike Cameron, RF
9. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C

Three Strikes:

1. Rich Hill has pitched seven innings in as many appearances for the Red Sox and has been a stabilizing force in Terry Francona's bullpen.  Hill has not allowed a run and has an impressive K/BB ratio of 10/2.  In last night's victory he preserved Josh Beckett's victory with 1.1 scoreless innings.  Going forward, he should play an integral part in the relief corps setting up Jonathan Papelbon.

2. David Ortiz is making a strong case for a new contract at the end of the year.  Through 46 games he has posted a stat line of .302/9/22/.908 and has been a huge presence hitting fifth behind Adrian Gonzalez and Kevin Youkilis.

3. The Red Sox start a rare back-to-back slate of afternoon games today with the Indians before moving on to Detroit tomorrow.  They start the day just a .5-game behind the Yankees in the A.L. East.
