Red Sox vs. Angels (May 5, 2011)

L.A. Angels (17-14) @ Red Sox (14-16)

SP - John Lackey (2-3, 5.65) vs. Joel Pineiro (0-0, 1.29)

1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
2. Carl Crawford, LF
3. Kevin Youkilis, 3B
4. Adrian Gonzalez, 1B
5. David Ortiz, DH
6. Jed Lowrie, SS
7. J.D. Drew, RF
8. Jarrod Saltalamacchia, C
9. Marco Scutaro, 2B

Three Strikes:

1. Dustin Pedroia's recent struggles (6 hits in his last 50 at-bats has dropped his batting average to .241) have earned him a rare off day from Terry Francona.  Not a bad idea to let Pedroia collect himself considering that last night's game ended well after midnight.

2. Bobby Jenks and Dan Wheeler have been sent to the disabled list which has created an opportunity for Milton native Rich Hill to find a spot in the Red Sox bullpen.  Hill has transformed himself into a lefty specialist in the bullpen with a deceptive sidearm delivery.  In 10 appearances with Triple-A Pawtucket, Hill is 1-0 with a 1.13 ERA and has an impressive 18/5 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

3. Lackey is 4-0 with a 2.45 ERA in four starts against his former employer.
