BCS Bowl Game Picks
If you have been taking my semi-professional advice on college football this season, you just about broke even. I bet your bookie is eagerly awaiting your phone call for the Rose Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Orange Bowl, Sugar Bowl, and the BCS National Championship because you have been right around .500 all year.
Well, this is the week when you can stare your bookie and the eye and let him know that he will be handing over a nice bundle of cash once the bowl games have ended. He will tremble in your presence because you will be making your decisions based upon the confidence of following my can't miss picks.
As always, picks are against the spread (today's Bible).
Rose Bowl
TCU (-3) over Wisconsin
TCU believes they were worthy of a shot at the BCS National Championship and will use the opportunity of playing in Pasadena on New Year's Day to show the nation just how deserving they are. Wisconsin is a very good team in its own right and this should be one of the best games of the year.
TCU 23, Wisconsin 17
Fiesta Bowl
UConn (+16.5) over Oklahoma
I am not picking an outright upset here but the Huskies, led by underrated running back Jordan Todman, will keep it close against Bob Stoops' Sooners.
Oklahoma 38, UConn 24
Orange Bowl
Stanford (-3.5) over Virginia Tech
This is the end of the road for the Cardinal football team. Head coach Jim Harbaugh will probably be on the sideline for the San Francisco 49ers or Michigan Wolverines for the 2011 season and quarterback Andrew Luck will most likely be taking his snaps for the Carolina Panthers. Stanford wants to go out with a bang and they will roll over the Hokies.
Stanford 31, Virginia Tech 14
Sugar Bowl
Ohio State (-3.5) over Arkansas
Ohio State has a history of struggling against the SEC powerhouses but Arkansas is not going to stand in the way of a Buckeye win in New Orleans. With the future of quarterback Terrell Pryor in question, I see him winning the MVP trophy (and then selling the award) before heading off to a mediocre NFL career.
Ohio State 26, Arkansas 21
BCS National Championship
Oregon (+2.5) over Auburn
Chip Kelly has come a long way from being the offensive coordinator at New Hampshire to coaching Oregon into the national championship game but he won't treat Auburn any differently than he did UMass or Maine. Kelly's offense will neutralize Cam Newton's phenomenal abilities and the Ducks will clinch their first national title.
Oregon 42, Auburn 31
Last Week: 3 - 1 - 1
Season: 36 - 30 - 4
