Football Picks
Here we go. It's Week 14 in the NFL and with no college games of note for nearly three weeks, TheBostonInsider has had some extra time to examine his picks for this week's slate of professional games.
(Well, I guess the Auburn games do count as professional contests. There is very little doubt in my mind that Cam Newton did not receive any money for "taking his talents" to Auburn when he left Florida after the 2008 season. I actually believe that it is not the end of the world if an elite talent like Newton - who has led Auburn into the BCS National Championship Game and won the Heisman Trophy last night - is given some "extra benefits" but alas, I am not the NCAA. I find it more than just a tad hypocritical that Auburn and their SEC brothers will collect millions of dollars based on what Newton does on the field while at the same time we all know he will be giving back the Heisman in Reggie Bush fashion. It's not fair but it's the system we are currently stuck with until the NCAA wakes up and starts to provide some of their premiere athletes with some sort of financial allowance. Maybe if this Newton scandal costs Auburn their National Championship, if they can defeat Oregon, the NCAA will correct this glaring problem. In the end, I don't think it will matter anyways for Auburn because I picked the Ducks to win the 2010 National Championship ... on December 3, 2008).
Thanks for staying with me through that mindless rant. Here are this week's NFL picks, which as always are against the spread (back to the trusty card) with the home team in capitals.
