The news of Kevin Faulk's ACL injury is damning to the Patriots offense and I'm sure that Tom Brady isn't happy that his best pass receiving/blocking running back is done for the season.
Kevin Faulk is no ordinary "3rd Down Back." He is a vital member of the Patriots offense and will be almost impossible to replace.
The one way to to try and make up for this loss will be to utilize rookie tight end Aaron Hernandez as a threat out of the backfield on 3rd Down. Hernandez would not be a threat to run the ball but he would be a target for Brady.
Losing a player like Faulk is a big loss and with a shaky stable of running backs already, this news is even more crushing. Fred Taylor, Sammy Morris, and BenJarvus Green-Ellis are all fine running backs but none are as versatile and as trusted by Brady as Kevin Faulk.
