NFL Draft Thoughts

It's been a few weeks but home computer problems have made it impossible to post anything this month. I am on a borrowed laptop right now doing some work for graduate school but with the Draft just a few minutes away from starting, I couldn't resist sharing my thoughts... Anyways, this is a very important weekend for Bill Belichick and the Patriots. With four picks in the top 53, Belichick has a chance to reload his roster for a shot at another Super Bowl. Names being tossed around in regards to the Patriots first round pick at 22 include Texas linebacker Sergio Kindle, Oklahoma State receiver Dez Bryant, Penn State defensive tackle Jared Oldrick, and Oklahoma tight end Jermaine Gresham. If - and this is a huge IF - Bryant is available, he is the guy I want the Pats to grab. Bryant was suspended for the last 10 games of the 2009 season after lying to the NCAA about his relationship with Deion Sanders but his issues should not prevent him from becoming a Patriot. Bryant is a 6-3 physical presence who would be Randy Moss' eventual replacement. A receiving corps of Moss, Bryant, Wes Welker (when his knee returns to 100%), Torry Holt, Julian Edelman, and Brandon Tate would make Tom Brady a happy man and the Patriots offense nearly unstoppable. With that said, here are my Draft ramblings: The two best quarterbacks from this draft will be Tim Tebow and Colt McCoy. They were winners in college and they will be winners in the NFL... Speaking of McCoy, I can't wait to see him star in Cleveland under the tutelage of ESPN's Jon Gruden when he takes over for Eric Mangini in 2011... The tension between Mel Kiper, Jr. and Todd McShay is going to make this weekend can't miss television... Lawrence Taylor looks like he was partying with Ron Washington last night... Three players I want to see the Pats take in the second round are Ryan Matthews, Kareem Jackson, and Rob Gronkowski... Jimmy Clausen is sealing the deal with Erin Andrews tonight... I don't break down film for a living but if I did so for the Rams, I would have a hard time pulling the trigger on Ryan Reynolds' look alike who just missed an entire season... Chris Berman is running on fumes... Enjoy Chucky Gruden tonight...
