Josh Hancock, a 29-year-old relief pitcher for the St. Louis Cardinals, was killed in a car accident early on Sunday morning according to ESPN.com.
Hancock, originally a member of the Red Sox organization who was traded before the 2003 season to the Philadelphia Phillies for Jeremy Giambi, pitched for the Sox, Phillies, Cincinnati Reds and Cardinals in his career.
The Cardinals have postponed their game tonight against the Chicago Cubs.
