BREAKING NEWS: Big 10 Votes To Cancel Football; Other Power 5 Conferences Will Follow This Week

Sources tell TheBostonInsider that the Big 10 has voted to cancel football due to Covid-19 and that the other Power 5 Conferences - the ACC, SEC, Big 12, and PAC 12 - are expected to do the same this week.

Despite plans to play conference-only schedules, this should come as no surprise.  The Ivy League made this decision a few weeks ago, the MAC did so over the weekend, and it was a matter of time before the Varsity conferences did so as well.

The bottom line is that without a vaccine or credible medicine to handle this pandemic, the idea of having 150 players, coaches, and staff members in the same facility training all week and then playing an opponent once a week (never mind the logistics of feeding and transporting these teams) was a lost cause.

With the NCAA season about to be called off, all eyes will no shift to the NFL.

As the MLB is showing us, operating outside of a "Bubble" is a recipe for failure and baseball only has about 60-65 players, coaches, and staff members.  Football's numbers are much higher, increasing the risk to spread the virus.

More information to come as this news will likely break later tonight.  Remember where you saw it first.
