The Red Sox have finalized their roster for Friday's Opening Day in Texas when they will be taking on the defending American League champions.
The team optioned relief pitchers Hideki Okajima and Alfredo Aceves to Triple-A Pawtucket while deciding to keep relievers Dennys Reyes and Matt Albers to start the season. Boston's Opening Day roster will now look like this:
Starting Pitchers (5): Jon Lester, John Lackey, Clay Buchholz, Josh Beckett, Daisuke Matsuzaka
Relief Pitchers (7): Jonathan Papelbon, Daniel Bard, Bobby Jenks, Dan Wheeler, Denny Reyes, Matt Albers, Tim Wakefield
Catchers (2): Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Jason Varitek
Infielders (6): Adrian Gonzalez, Dustin Pedroia, Kevin Youkilis, Marco Scutaro, Jed Lowrie, David Ortiz
Outfielders (5): Carl Crawford, Jacoby Ellsbury, J.D. Drew, Mike Cameron, Darnell McDonald
