As we near the halfway point of the NHL playoffs and start to inch closer to the Conference Finals in the NBA, it's time to re-visit my pre-playoff predictions for both leagues.
Here are my predictions for the NHL and here are my predictions for the NBA.
In the NHL's Eastern Conference, I correctly picked three of the four first round series and only whiffed on the Canadiens-Senators matchup. In the Western Conference, I was also 3-for-4 and missed on the Ducks-Red Wings series. Hitting on 6-of-8 series is a great mark for me and I don't feel too bad about being wrong about the two-seed in both conferences. I also still have all four teams I predicted for the Conference Finals on both sides and I'm sticking with my pick of the Penguins over the Blackhawks for the Stanley Cup.
In the NBA's Eastern Conference I submitted a stinker and only correctly picked Miami. In the Western Conference I correctly picked all four first round series. Going 5-for-8 isn't too bad either but I did just see my predicted Western Conference champion lose in the second round and I won't even use Russell Westbrook's injury as an excuse for that. I'm sticking with Miami to win the title but instead of beating Oklahoma City for a second straight season this time they will beat San Antonio.
